Dakota Lawrence

LPC-MHSP

Hi! I'm Dakota.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and co-owner of Mind The Gap, an integrative therapy practice in Murfreesboro, TN.

I’ve been teaching and practicing mindfulness for years, drawing from both Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). .

I believe mindfulness is one of the most powerful tools we have in transforming mental health. By learning to anchor in the present moment with curiosity and compassion, we create space to step out of old patterns, reduce stress, and connect more deeply with ourselves and others.

In this group, I bring together mindfulness, DBT skills, and trauma-informed care to create a safe and supportive space where you can practice presence, build resilience, and discover new ways to relate to life’s challenges.

I can't wait to walk with you on this journey!

AOTA Conference Attendee - 2025

"Best three hr workshop I’ve been to at AOTA. The speakers were relatable, fluent, real, and overall easy to listen to. They provided a ton of information but laid out in an great and easy format that could be followed and used in the future."

Mindfulness Based Resilience Group

We walk you through all you need to know to start applying mindfulness skill to your daily life!

You'll Learn About:

Core Mindfulness Practices

You'll learn formal mindfulness practices (such as body scans, mindfulness of thoughts, and open awareness) to foster present-moment focus and reduce stress.

Cognitive & Emotional Toolkit

We'll harness these practices to reframe unhelpful thought patterns and increase self-compassion. This toolkit offers practical strategies for managing unwanted or overwhelming emotions.

Strategies To Cultivate Resilience

We connect mindfulness to real-life challenges, growth, and healing. We'll cultivate practical strategies to proactively improve resilience to stress, depression and anxiety.

Strengthen & Improve Relationships

Mindfulness happens in a variety of contexts, including relationships! We'll offer practical mindfulness and DBT based tools for strengthening and improving the dynamics with those in your life you care the most about.

About Our PRactice

Health professions traditionally exist in silos: isolated from one another and deeply specialized. This isn't inherently a bad thing, but it means that important pieces of our clients overall healthcare slipped through the gaps between services. So an idea was born: to offer mental health services that spanned the space between mental and physical domains. OT is often utilized in a physical health setting and counseling is primarily utilized in a mental health setting. By combining and collaborating, we weave together a safety net.

We invite you to join us in cultivating a soft landing place for all those that slip through the gaps in our healthcare system. We invite you to help us Mind The Gap.
